  • Untying the Knot

    Producer

The Philippines is the only country outside the Vatican that does not allow divorce, causing women in troubled marriages to pay a steep price.

With only limited and difficult legal options, women either stay in abusive homes or turn to more unsavory solutions.

Untying the Knot is in production, and I’m currently advising director Chona Mangalindan on fundraising and story development.

When a Black Muslim activist, Myles Carter, is tackled by police during a BLM protest, the tension on the street escalates, and an innocent Black bystander, Deyanna Davis, is swept into a turbulent series of events.

Though strangers, Carter is alarmed by the criminal justice system’s treatment of Davis and uses his moment in the spotlight to bring attention to her story.

Thank You For Thinking of Me is in production and I’m currently advising director Akram Shibly on financing, editing, and storytelling.

I love bringing out the best in directors.

A thoughtful creator can make any story brilliant, so I tend to fall in love with directors and not projects. I’m keen on misfits, poets at heart, and artists with an ax to grind.

My goal is to help the creator tap into and stretch the story that’s burning inside them. I inspire directors to turn the stuff of their imagination into bold, technicolor work.

I believe a good producer supports the director in exploring, shaping, and resourcing their vision. I’m particularly interested in partners from and projects about historically excluded communities.

Read my DEI statement here or contact me if you think I’m a match for your project.
